Gomer Hill - Lewis County - PL 100.0

I know there has been talk of the Rangers using Herkimer County 911 Dairy Hill tower in the town of Norway for a repeater site. The county built a 200ft free standing tower a few years ago and provisions were made for DEC to place repeaters at that site. Nothing further ever came of it and it still gets mention around the center every now and then.

71.9 would be Buck Mt Tower in Region 4. 8N31 is a Lt in Region 3 and 438 is a Ranger in Greene County. I heard the same traffic the other day where 8N31 was the duty officer for Region 4 & 3 and was trying to contact 438.

Gomer & Starr PL might be 100.0

As per the prior post, Ranger ID 574 - 579 are assigned to Hamilton County. They mostly use Gore or Blue Mt. Repeater. Once in a while they will use Petersburg which is located in Region 4. Not sure of the PL for Petersburg

I monitored 159.435 on and off all day.... here's the info:

Both Starr Hill (Region 6) & Gomer Hill (6) are PL 100.0.
Petersburg Mountain (4) appears to be PL 77.0
Georgetown and Berry Hill transmit PL 146.2.

I pick up a lot of the Ranger Towers at this location... but I primarily monitor Starr & Gomer since the rangers that cover my county use those two repeaters.

In Chautauqua County you hear the state forest ranger on the vol. fire frequency and the sheriff frequency.

Forest Rangers and Encon Officers can transmit on both Fire & MRD in Herkimer County. Just got an email at work saying that State Park Police units will now be on our MRD channels running Traffic Stops and Data via Herkimer County Dispatch.

I have the DEC as 159.2250. Is thisa different agency than the Forest Rangers

MB -- Herkimer County Fire is 154.205 and MRD is 155.610 -- all DEC Encon Officer and Forest
Rangers are generally direct radio dispatched by the 911 center on MRD frequency.

Herkimer County database on this site is up-to-date.

Justin - 159.225 is a DEC Encon frequency. Rangers are found on 159.435.

I had our Northville office accessing Gore using 151.22 input with 127.3 PL Yesterday.

There is a major search operation going on this weekend involving several DEC units. They mentioned Washington County, the Hogtown parking log, Arabis (?), and the summit of Sleeping Beauty. They have helicopter support (my RadarBox detected N20SP a few times) and have set up the Comm Van at the scene.

I've been recording the listed Ranger channels (per SCANdal's list) to see if I can nail down any more system details.

EDIT: Somebody just mentioned Spectacle Pond on Ranger 5/8/12.

I have been listening to this for a while now. If you listen to my Essex County Feed you can hear all the traffic on 159.435 PL 131.8. I believe they are mostly using Gore Mountain and their F1 Frequency - 151.220 on scene. Washington County did have their "Field Com" frequency set up for a while yesterday - 155.370, but I haven't heard any traffic on that in a while. Not sure of the exact details of whats going on but it sounds like they have an intensive search..

FORT ANN -- A man who threatened to commit suicide before heading into woods of West Fort Ann was the subject of a search Friday, officials said.
State forest rangers and West Fort Ann firefighters were heading the search in the Hogtown area of town. The area is rife with state hiking trails.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office said a man who threatened to commit suicide is believed to have gone into the woods near Sleeping Beauty Mountain.
The search has been ongoing since early this morning.

Yes the forest rangers in NY also do fire fighting.

I heard some traffic this morning that sounded like fire fighting traffic. References to the NWS and to "see if you smell it over there".

In the Adirondack Park, most of the Ranger's trucks are full-size red 4x4 pickups with fire fighting skid rigs in the bed. (Unable to find a pic on the net at the moment.)
