Here's what I found during the search (which terminated when the man was found and airlifted out by NYSP helicopter).

Channel 2 151.280/CSQ used by NYSP helo to contact LZ

Channel 5/8/12 (can somebody explain this?) 159.435/131,8 Gore Mountain repeater

Channel 6 159.435/82.5 Mount Colfax repeater

Channel 14? 159.435/71.9 active, weak, only heard base. She was having a 2-way conversation with the Ranger at the LZ, but he was not heard via this PL.

159.225/94.8 Mount Colfax repeater
159.330/94.8 also active but not related to SAR incident

Here in Region 5 (Adirondacks) the trucks are no longer red, they are dark green Chevy Silverado 4X4 extended cab pickups.

Forest Rangers - NYS Dept. of Environmental Conservation

Rangers perform all sorts of tasks, from firefighting, rescue, enforcement and education.

In the Adirondack Park, most of the Ranger's trucks are full-size red 4x4 pickups with fire fighting skid rigs in the bed. (Unable to find a pic on the net at the moment.)

Dave, Nice list..

The only thing I can think of is that they may have instructed Rangers that were responding from outside the area that were helping with the search to use either channels 5, 8 or 12 becuase they all use the same repeater input frequnecy and PL tone that will access the Gore Mountain repeater.

Here's what I found during the search (which terminated when the man was found and airlifted out by NYSP helicopter).

Channel 2 151.280/CSQ used by NYSP helo to contact LZ

Dave:
Here is what I can determine.
Channel 5-Gore, 8-Blue, 12-White Face, Per MB's post all use the same PL
Channel 14 - Buck Tower located in Rensselaer County used by Region 4 Rangers

159.225 - Region 5's Encon Officers Frequency
159.330 - Region 4's Encon Officers Frequency which includes the Capital District and Northern Catskills

Thanks. I thought it might be something like that. Does anyone have the input tones that distinguish the channels?

Here in Queensbury, I an picking up 159.225 with a PL of 118.8. Haven't been able to nail down who it is yet. Traffic heard was law enforcement with MDC1200 data bursts. Is the DEC using MDC1200 now?

Repeater input PL & frequency is different from output. Repeater outputs seem to be by Region. Region 5 131.8?? Region 6 - 100.0 etc

Inputs

These are inputs that I have confirmed. But please note, PLs do change from time to time and some of this information may need to be updated this Spring/Summer.

151.2800 (114.8 PL) input to 159.4350 (127.3) Georgetown Tower, Madison County

151.2800 (123.0 PL) input to 159.4350 (CSQ) Gomer Hill, Lewis County

151.2200 (123.0 PL) input to 159.4350 (254.1) Blue Mountain, Hamilton County

151.2800 (141.3 PL) input to 159.4350 (82.5) Whiteface, Essex County

151.2200 (127.3 PL) input to 159.4350 ( ) Gore, Warren County

151.4300 (94.8 PL) input to 159.4650 Martinsburg Tower, Lewis County

151.4300 (127.3 PL) input to 159.4650 Dry Hill, Jefferson County

151.4300 (123.0 PL) input to 159.4650 Gerogetown Tower, Madison County

151.4300 (162.2 PL) input to 159.4650 Starr Hill, Oneida County

151.4300 (151.4 PL) input to 159.4650 Whites Hill, St. Lawrence County

151.4300 (123.0 PL) input to 159.2250 (94.8) Region 7 (tower??)

151.2500 (123.0 PL) input to 159.3000 (127.3) CNY area

159.2250 (114.8 PL) Whiteface

Mike - All Rangers use 159.435 as there primary frequency. The PLs for the towers are listed in several of the other post. The Ulster county feed has both the Ranger frequency of 159.435 & the DEC police frequency of 159.225 that covers DEC Region 3 which Orange & Sullivan Counties are part of.

Thats actually an older one. I am working with the DEC Radio tech in Region 7 to update it, in additition to updating the frequency list. As reference, 159.435, 159.225, 159.465 are all the outputs of the repeaters. They are in te process of putting PL on all channels for the outputs, in addition to going narrowband.

theicomman - I noticed in one of your prior post, you indicated that you where going to place Encon frequencies in your feed. I was wondering if you had a chance to do that yet? Thanks

Today while monitoring 159.435 I overheard two seperate conversations; unfortunately there were going on simultaneously.

One conversation was between Region 5 units on Gore (131.8 CTCSS).

At the same time, a Region 4 unit on Buck Mtn. (71.9 CTCSS) was talking to a Region 3 unit in regards to a lost person in the woods (unknown location because the person had been found). The Region 3 unit was accessing a different repeater with a CTCSS of 94.8 Hz. That repeater was definately weaker but the two units could hear each other. I didn't copy the Region 3 unit number and also didn't identify which repeater they were on.

On a side note, in the past I had monitored Blue Mtn. using a CTCSS of 254.1 Hz. Has this changed or is this still active?

Region 3 & 5 Search:

I only had a chance to catch the tail end of the search in region 5 and they where using the DLE cathead tower for the majority of the transmissions I heard. Not sure what was going on in region 3
