I should add: this was with the SDS100 inside the car, with the stock antenna
I suspect you are seeing the Eagle Rock site. This is the only high profile site. The others are much lower.

When I compare to NJICS W.Orange signal I see some similarities. The Newark signal however has about 7db better signal here with a bit less fading. Very respectable. No traffic yet.

No I don't think so... I spent the weekend driving around Livingston and there was zero signal. If West Orange was active, there would have been some signal into Livingston. Besides, The eagle Rock site is pretty weak along the Union county mountainside ridge.... I think this signal is coming out of Newark. we need more field testing....

I'm trying to import this system into my TRX-1. I see it on this page:

When I try to do a Library Import, it's not listed. I'm in Essex County.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Since it's not a big system, I could manually enter it.

It's not in sentinel yet because before today there were no talk groups listed. It should be in the Monday update in sentinel, for uniden radios

Thanks. I was hoping that I wasn't looking right at it and not seeing it. Done that before...

That's not correct in any sense. TG 8 has been listed for nearly four months as "System Techs" prior to yesterday's updates. The Newark P25 system has been in Sentinel going back to at least early November. Oh and he's asking about Whistler here, not Uniden/Sentinel.

The system is right here in the software, library version 866. When was the last time you updated the library? Note that the only talkgroup listed is the previously mentioned "System Techs", which has changed. Try updating your library this week for the latest updates, or just enter the new talkgroups manually, or use a wildcard to hear all activity.

Thanks for the info.

I thought that the library database stored in the radio was independent from library import. I thought that library import pulled from the RR database, but then that's probably why they call it "Library" import. Learned something new today.

Both Whistler and Uniden pull from the RRDB weekly. The only way to get those updates into your scanner is to update the software's library, then write to the scanner. Been like that since the GRE days with EZ-Scan.

I finally got around to programming this new system into my scanner. Reception is good but a very noticeable delay from conventional. Being honest, I wish NPD would leave things as is.

Quick question about the new Newark PD P25 system. I programmed this system into my SDS 100 using Sentinel. I was in the Essex/Union County area yesterday, but did not hear anything. Is this system operational yet and if so is there some adjustment I have to make in Sentinel to be able to receive Newark PD? Thank you in advance for your help.

The RR DB has been updated to reflect updated TG’s. @richee2000 note Inquiry TG’s are encrypted. On the 460.xxx side they are not. Likely indicative of capability and the future. No indication any two way usage by anyone yet. These are simply linked to the 460.xxx side.

Clearly someone is not superstitious. Note the use of 1013 TG for the 3rd Pct. 🤔

I just spent about 45 minutes listening to Newark PD p25 system and all talk groups currently in the clear but they are a we broadcast of the 460 channels. Yes first precinct is 1011
Second precinct 1012 3rd precinct 1013 4th precinct 1014 and 5th precinct 1015
