Howdy there.

I'm interested in purchasing an inexpensive scanner capable of creeping the frequencies used by the CPS. I am VERY new to this, so if you could keep the technical jargon to a minimum, that would be greatly appreciated!

Preferably something that can be dash-mounted, but like I said, price and compatibility are important.

Welcome to RR. I think you are referring to Systems here: Calgary County, Alberta (AB) Scanner Frequencies With the exception of this system: Calgary Digital Radio Trunking System , which is digital, I think most any scanner should get the rest. Digital radios cost approx $500-575, so you should be very sure you need one. However, you really should ask this question in the Western Canada Radio Discussion Forum for a more informed answer.
