I have been monitoring conventional transmissions for 10 years and have recently included trunked networks into my Uniden BCD396xt. I have all of Morris County programmed in, but I am new and need some clarification. I do not know exactly what "simulcast" is. I have all of NJ and Morris County trunked systems programmed in, except the simulcast "Channels" I still receive all transmissions (to my knowledge) just fine. I would also like to know, what the "sites" are? Is this the physical location of the repeater or tower?

To make it simple, sites are equivelent to zones.

For example, the Morris County trunked system - you would program the frequencies from zone 1 into site 1 for the Morris system in the scanner. Zone 2 = site 2, etc.

Now, to make the scanning more efficient, lock out all sites except the site closest to you. What town do you live in? Also some people have stated it is faster to just enter the control channels for each site (highlighted in red) and set the scanner to cc only mode.
