Hello everyone,

I just bought a Radio Shack pro-164 scanner and am looking at software to program it. I was wondering if I should get ARC-300 or Win97? ARC-300 says free software update forever, but Win97 doesn't seem to have anything stated about update.. Any recommendations?

Suggest that you check the Wiki on this site for programming software. There are several programs listed and I believe each has a free 30 day trail period. Check each out and see which you like as the "best" program is the one you find best suited to your needs and understanding.

I know nothing about ARC-300 as I use Win97. Win97 also offers free updates when needed and is user friendly.

Both have free updates for life, as does PSREdit300.. They all also provide a 30 day free trial.

Thanks for the details on the software updates.. Does anyone know if there is any issue with using any of these software with Windows 7?

PSREdit300 has worked great for me with the pro-164. Have no clue about how it works on win7.
