Newbe - winradio and digital trunking system??

All my local police and fire has changed to digital trunking system and I am trying to figure out what to do now.

1: Add new software to my winradio setup if possible?
2: Start over with a new BC296B and software, and will this work with out access to the radio and only controlled by the software?
3: Give up?

Wow. Neat setup! 8)

1 isn't an available option (yet) and 3 just isn't any fun. That leaves 2. But I would recommend getting the BC796 instead of the 296. It's designed to be a mobile unit, completely computer controllable and does APCO25 digital just dandy.. This would integrate well into your existing setup, and you could keep the Winradio installed as well so you could monitor two things at once. You'll need additional software for the 796 also, as what comes in the box with the radio just won't cut it, in my opinion, especially for control, which is what you want to do.

If you get one going, post up an updated pic of the install! We love that kind of thing.

It was completed about a week ago.

I made and installed a remote vol. sq. control for the bc796

Option 2 is good for now ... a PRO-96 will do if you just want to listen. Option 1 is about two months away.

Has anyone played around with the Uniden Digital card. I wonder if the A to D and D to A converters are on the card. I know the DSP is there. A pin out of the connector would be nice.

Rick and the other coding wizards here are hard at work on a nice present for all of us. I tried to be of help, but it's just way beyond my own programming knowledge. I got nowhere with what code I was given to play with. But what I watched (AND HEARD!!!) it do would totally blow you away. I'm still impressed - I just wish I could get it to work for the systems I monitor.

Keep an eye on the Trunker/T4Win forum. Good things are coming, by the sounds of Rick's reply.
