Welcome to the board!

Verify the freqs and talkgroups you want to program by clicking "RR Database" at the top of the page.

Good call on using Win95. Under the "channels" tab, enter in the freqs (and alpha tags if you wish) of the system you want to monitor. Make sure to set the "rx mode" column to the type of system you want (EDACS or MOT). Also, make SURE you set the "type" to the same thing (EDACS or MOT).

If the system is EDACS, then you MUST program the freqs in LCN order (should be the order that you see them in the database). You will skip channel "00" and start with "01".

Now you can move to the bottom-right portion of the screen and enter in talkgroups if you like.

At the top of the screen between "name" and "type" you will see a check box with the word "Closed" beside it. If you run the scanner in "open" mode (a + under each bank number while scanning) then you will hear ALL talkgroups as they are transmitted. If you run it in "closed" mode (a - under each bank number while scanning) then you will ONLY hear the talkgroups you have programmed in.

There are a few yahoo groups on the web with free files for the pro95, and all are free to join:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/p95/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PRO95/
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PRO-93_95/

Good luck!

Thankx for the welcome. :D I also joined one of the yahoo groups..

I have some questions--- You said to put in the rx mode for the type of system I am monitoring And to match up the Type.. I did that and the type keeps going to MOT in two banks when the rx is set to FM. Does this matter or normal.
With the ECADS, you skip channel 00 and start on ch 01.. Do you do that for each bank? Like on the pro95 it's (001-bank 0 and CH 01) Do you put the ECADS in every CH 01(001-201-301-401 ect...)?
On the win95 program in the # column why are they numbered with like 5-0s then 5-1s, 5-2s, 5-3s ect...??
Is ther some standerd freqs for the mot groups to put in the scanner and then scan for the talk groups?
Thats it for now..
I'm sure there will be a lot more in the future...
Thank You All.. :D

Yes, it does matter. In a trunking bank, you must have the Rx set to MOT as well as the Type. Otherwise, it will not trunktrack. ONLY set the type to FM if the entire bank is conventional.

Do it for each bank that is EDACS. Some channels you might skip... IE: you might have channel 01 and channel 02, then skip 03 and go to 04.

Not sure what you mean there... can you restate the question?

Is ther some standerd freqs for the mot groups to put in the scanner and then scan for the talk groups?

Most will be in the 800mhz range. I don't even think the 95 will work with 400mhz systems.

Email me a copy of your .p95 file if you would like for me to take a look at it. I would be more than happy to!

Jayfurd / Just wondering, is the cable connection for the 95 & new 396 the same? I'm pretty sure they are made by two different companies, but are the female jacks on the scanners the same? I realize that you may not know, but what the heck, it never hurts to ask.

Hi Jerry,

I would suspect that the BCD396T uses a 1/8 jack just as the Pro95 does, but I have not yet seen one of the new Unidens. I do know that the Pro95 (GRE) and Pro83 (Uniden) both can use the same progamming cable, if that's any help.

Sorry I can't be more helpful!

How do I send you this file.. On my compoter I cant opan it.. It says it might have been sent by e-mail and not decoded properly???

Do it for each bank that is EDACS. Some channels you might skip... IE: you might have channel 01 and channel 02, then skip 03 and go to 04.

You have to start on 01 though right? In whatever bank you are putting ECADS..

Not sure what you mean there... can you restate the question?

In The channel tab in the left side where the # column is, the sequence is 00000000000011111111111111122222222222222222233333333333ect...
Why? Just because?

I have no clue.. Sorry. I'm way to new at this..

Thankx all...

To email the file, you need to go to "File" at the top of the Win95 screen and choose "save as". This will save it on your hard drive, with ".p95" as the extension. If you want to post it on this board, you can do so, but you will need to rename the extension, IE: "p95.txt" rather than "p95.p95".

In whatever bank you put EDACS, put them as they are laid out in the database. NEVER start with "00", and you should be fine.

I still can't see where those numbers are ("00000000000011111111..."). This is a small screen-shot of what it should look like:

No, Jerry - the GRE scanners use a 1/8" mono plug. The 396 (and maybe other Unidens - I don't know) uses a connector that looks something like a mini-USB - it's a tiny little D-shaped thing. My eyes aren't what they used to be, even with glasses, but it looks like 4 or 5 pins.

Darnit, I was afraid of that. I had my hopes up because of the Pro's 83 & 95 being the same.
Thanks for your answer.

Jam,

Here is a file that I put together for you. Not sure who uses APCO-25 and who uses analog on the state police system, or if the whole thing is APCO-25.
