Newbie ! BCD396XT?

Newbie here just beginning to learn terms etc.

Where I am at is it appears the BCD396XT is what I'm highly considering for a first scanner. I need APCO-25 for fire.

I am located in Vancouver, BC. And I know I won't be able to listen to local police (provoice) so I am interested to know why I should pick the 396XT? And what will it do for me for the $400-600 price tag.

P.S I have read quickly read thru the specs and manual but as a newbie it's quite technical.

It's a little hard to answer this question from 3500km away and not knowing what it is you are interested in hearing.

Newbie and bcd396xt

Can someone tell me what I could listen to/hear if I had this bcd396xt? I live in Vancouver.

I have done a bit of research on scanners and scanning but I am starting to get a bit confused.

I guess I would like to know what I can listen to here in vancouver.

You should consider also buying a SDR dongle and using DSDplus to decode the provoice. (Just an idea ;p )
