Can anyone point me in the correct direction to be able to scan In New Jersey the South STAR, North Star, and Atlantic emergency helicopter frequencies? I know when they are out there as I hear the police and fire saying they have an eta of 2 minutes. How can I hear the helicopters side. I think they are in the Trunking section somewhere. I really don't know much about this but I could use some help to receive them. I have a BC246T which I find very difficult to use so I bought a Home Patrol. With Home Patrol where would the Helicopter frequencies be hiding? Are they in POLICE, EMS, EMERGENCY OPS, EMS-TAC or what???? Which section of the service types would I find these. Maybe I don't have their section turned on in the Home Patrol at the time they are on. Thanks for any help Ron.

Northstar and Southstar are talkgroups on the NJ State Police Trunked System so a discrete frequency would be of no value here. They are simulcast on all three troop systems. Not sure where the Atlantic hangs its hat.

Thanks for getting back. I just thought there was a section on the Home Patrol to turn on like EMS etc. to get their transmissions. I think what you said was they transmit on the state police trunking channels so if I receive the state police, which I do, I should also get the emergency helicopters when they are on. I'll keep on listening! Thanks again Ron

In ocean county when the helicopter is dispatched they switch over to south jersey firenet 154.265 csq to communicate with fire command at the lz. Pretty sure they do this thru out south jersey give that a shot ...
