newbie from san jose checking in

Just stumbled across this excellent webpage..stil debating on which scanner I should get, hopefully some users in San Jose or surrounding areas can give me some ideas on which scanners work best here in the area? Anyways, I look forward to contributing to this site. Take care!

I prefer the Radio Shack scanners. I have the Pro-96 because it can decode digital....this is important if you want to hear some of the Santa Clara SO as well as a Salinas PD detectives frequency. If you don't care about digital, look at the Pro-97

I was thinking of getting the uniden 996t..any opinion on that unit?
