Newbie looking for a RS-pro95

[cdrake]

Hi, my name is Chuck and I am a newbie to the scanning hobby. Infact, I don’t even own a scanner as of yet. I have done a little research and have decided that the Radio Shack Pro-95 would meet my needs. I won’t be able to listen to my local police department in Regina, SK since they have switched to a digital system with 100% encryption. That being said there is still a number of interesting conversations taking place that the pro95 can still monitor. I would like to purchase this unit from a Canadian seller/distributor, as I am unfamiliar with duty charges or border restrictions on scanners coming into the country. I have seen this scanner being advertised on the Radio Shack website for $129.00 US but they will not ship to Canada. If someone knows where I can pick this unit up in Canada or if this unit can be imported from the US with out any border hassles then let me know. Eventually I would like to pick up a digital scanner but I am willing to wait for the prices to come down. I am looking for a good solid trunking scanner to get me started. Thank you for your time.

Re: Pro95

Yes... they will ship to Canada. I purchased mine from Radio Shack in Texas. Called the Radio Shack number and asked for international purchases, they put me on some very nice helpfull lady whom I sent a money order, and voila within 2 weeks I had my brand new Pro95 scanner all programmed and working. I would recommend calling them rather than purchasing one over Ebay. I'm very happy that I went the route I did.

Good Luck

Get one if you can find them! I got lucky yesterday and got one that I'm using as a birthday present this spring. I'm looking forward to the new PRO-97 later this year. When the digital scanners' price goes down, I'll get one. At $129.99, you can't go wrong!
