I have a, new to me, BCD436HP which has no upgrades. I have been unlucky on getting any active hits on my small town frequencies. I used computer to transfer over data to scanner into favorites. I have done this for many other frequencies and get chatter all the time. But I'm not sure if I need some kind of upgrade to hear my towns radio talk. I have attached a snip from RR database. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong or any type of help. Thank you.

Looks like you need a scanner capable of Phase II (2) P25 trunking (SDS-100, SDS-200) The 436 does not provide that.

The frequencies listed above, if still on use, will probably only be heard on a limited basis.

BUT, what exactly are you wanting to hear? Fire, EMS, Police, Schools, ????

The 436 DOES handle Phase 2, as does the related 536.

I would double check the Service Tags, that is usually the issue with otherwise properly programmed radios.

Your gonna want to monitor the DCPS P25 system for Sandwich Police & 155.5425 (167.9) KenCom Fire 1 for Sandwich Fire. Those frequencies you screenshoted aren't used. The 436HP will work just fine for DCPS if you stick with the dummy antenna due to there only being one antenna on the south of DeKalb County and the other towers don't reach down there. But as mentioned before make sure the service tags are turned on

Thank you!

DeKalb County Public Safety
Project 25 Phase II
Used by Sheriff, Sandwich Police and Sycamore Police. Sandwich FD dispatched by KenCom.
that would be where the action is.
edit, and then i saw this
Countywide Simulcast
so that would bring it up to a uniden SDS series, just to be sure of recepti

Thank you I'll try that
