I live in Tooele, Utah and attempt to listen to most public saftey in the county. I am new to Radio Reference and fairly new to scanning. My wife and I have a BC895XLT, and a R.S. Pro 91. We have fallen to rebanding, therefore the above named scanners have been rendered almost useless. We purchased a GRE 300 with the ARC 300 software from the scanner master link, GREAT! On line store very helpful. Jumped right in and began to mess about with it, without much sucess. Needless to say, the learning curve is steep and we are like frogs looking at a wrist watch. The hobby has been fascinating but we do not have the intimate knowledge that all of you other members have, or most likley the years under the belt that you possess. We have read much on this site, but it is huge and somewhat advanced for us. Can anyone help us or direct us to forums or offer advice we would greatly appreciate it. We need direction. We think there is so much more we could be getting out of this hobby and our scanner with the proper advice. Thanks to all in advance.

And don't forget that your BC895XLT, and R.S. Pro 91 are still good for all the conventional freqs in your area.

Welcome to the Utah Forum of RR.com
2alpha56

You have come to the right place and you are on your way towards being helped already. I think you will find the members here friendly, helpful, and kind. Do not hesitate to ask your questions. We may have heard them several times before, but they are questions that will always plague a newbie to this great hobby and the statement, "There are no dumb questions," definitely goes here.

Again, welcome.

Thanks to kf7yn, gldavis & qlajlu for the heartfelt welcome & suggestions. Jon, we will be in touch via phone after the rigors of the work week calm down. You have all been most welcoming & we appreciate it very much. Be assured we tried tonight yet again to do some simple programming with scanner, software & RR to no avail. We are not discouraged however. Our goal is to acquire & understand the knowledge that all of you have. Thank you for your patience.

Just curious, is that 2-Alpha-56 as in... State Parks & Recreation?

No kf7yn, 2=my wife & I, alpha refers to our alpha female jack russell terrier & 56= the year we were both born. Thought we were being clever. Didn't mean to use someone's legit call sign. We can attempt to change it if you think it is a problem. P.S. I took you up on your generous offer to help, & gave you a call, but you were unavailable.
