Ok sorry to bother you guys but I'm a volunteer fire fighter and I bought a scanner (Pro 95) from radio shack and I have really no clue on this trunking thing. I was wondering if yall could give me some step by step instructions on how to program channels for it. My county(montgomery) uses a EDACS system (pro-voice) and i looked up the DEC talk group IDs in the RR database. I appreciate the help guys.

Ben, There is NO scanner available as of today that can monitor Pro-Voice digital. You are outta luck.

You can however monitor the analog talkgroups provided that ESK (EDACS security key) is not being used.

You need to program the frequencies in correct LCN number starting with channel 01, not 00. Look at each freq. on the database page and you'll see a number by it. That's the LCN number. Set the mode to EDACS.

Check here for a step by step(with pictures) on how to program the pro-95:

Hope this helps :)

Ben:
I was not aware the Montgomery Co system was a edacs provoice system? I thought it was just a regular (not digital) edacs type system. Why don't you check into the houstonscan group over on yahoo groups. I'm up in College Station so you are just outside my monitoring range. I can get it in on occasion and the last time I listen to it it was monitorable

It's not, but i think he only wants to listen to the fire department which is conventional VHF. So he may not even have to mess with the truked system. He is PMing me so we will get this straightened out.

Hmm, the DB says it is, maybe someone should submit correct info?
