newbie needs help

Hello everyone! I just started programming my pro 164, which has not been as bad as a thought it was going to be. However, I am confused with my local towns frequency (Westchester). It appears that they are linked to several other towns, but I rarely hear any of there calls going through. I am wondering if they are using starcom or I have the wrong channel for them. Currently I have them on 470.4125 (192.8).Thanks in advance for the help.

Try 470.8250, (192.8). That is listed in the CARMA Profile for them, along with 460.4125. They also chat on 155.640 and I wouldn't be surprised to hear them on the PW channel, 158.775.

Thanks for the help, I added them in. They do get some traffic on them but the majority of time they are rather distorted. I adjusted the squelch, which hasnt seemed to do anything. Even though I am listening to my own town, would an upgrade in antenna help?

Try programming 470.8250 as NFM, if they are operating in narrow mode it could sound distorted when programmed as WFM. If that doesn't help then program it without the PL, see if that helps.

BTW, when I typed 460.4125 before it was a typo, it should be 470.4125... Sorry!
