I tried to download one without a site selected and my version gave me a warning "need to select one site" or something. I have come up with one with no freqs in there... do not remember how

I hope Gway is glued to his scanner listing to all the good stuff? Gone are the days of parking the scanner on the Apple Valley PD freq and getting all the good stuff.

Now we can move onto Vscanner question?

Where you type in your message in a post or reply down below the smiley faces is Additional Options, click on Manage Attachments, Browse, find the file, picture on your computer, then click Upload.

I bet gway17 didn't get any sleep last night, probably still awake. After all that was a bunch of talkgroups to listen to.

The Vscanner, I will be the student in that class.

The picture below is the save options in Jing, the disk is to save it to your hard drive, the first one is to upload to screencast.com, if you upload to screencast.com the pictures will show better than they do on a forum.

So Like this, that was the first thing I tried last night... did not work then Oh well.
There needs to be freqs in there, but 32 is the max, this is my Metro roaming file, I put 32 CC's and Alt's for pretty much every site in the metro, on the trunk I set "multi site" to roam (at home I have it at Stationary) and I roll.... never a dull drive, almost 2 much info. en route to a hospital job at 3 in the morning I got to monitor a police chase that drove by me in the opposite direction, keeps you in the know. Also monitor MNDOT traffic helper, good advance warning for where not to drive!!

Vscanner

Vscanner is simple and cool. If your scanner just sits at home probably not really a necessity. But lets say you mostly listen at home but every weekend you take it with you to your cabin or what not, instead of plugging in your scanner to ARC-500 you can use Vscanner. Its like a storage device in your scanner that stores one ARC-500 file. In my example make one for "home" and one for "cabin". Build your files for both like normal in Arc-500, save them and then we load them. There are 2 methods of doing this and one I have been known to mix files up on.
Here is the easy way as I call it, load your home into your scanner, check that it works etc etc, hit FUNC PGM this brings up the Vscanner menu depicted by pics. Hit F1(load) then up/down arrows to select 0-20 (you can have that many) lets use 0, then hit store, It will ask you to name it, so do "home" I think its F1 OK, its self explanatory at this point. when it beeps at you its done and hit scan to return to that. Now you have Home in 0. Load your cabin into your scanner and repeat above putting it in 1 and naming it cabin.

Now since you are at home, instead of doing the STOR thing do the LOAD thing and load 0, scan away, this weekend you head to cabin. LOAD cabin. Its like an internal memory.

Yup, it was a long/fun night of listening. The DktCty Lst 3 rev 1 file works perfectly.

Oh ya...I did. And, I click the expand to make sure that the ones on the left column (Dkt Cty) are all checked and the ones on the right column that I want to hear (Apple Valley, Bloomington, etc), are selected (checked).

I think there is something very simple at this point that I'm either missing or is not downloading properly.
You guys have given very good step by step directions (and pix....gotta love pix) that I've followed.

What is the TG number on that one? I made his file thought I got all of Dakota Co but do not see that one? I do see a boat load of duplicates I cleaned up.

Like I said earlier, gone are the days of parking it on the Apple Valley Freq and getting just that.

Looks like Apple Valley units are 4900 so when JASII gets back to us on that TG, you need to listen for 49xx calls on that channel. Ya gotta pay attention, but you will get used to it.
Everything has gone to a centralized type dispatches, I can't speak for down there but up here in SherburneCo one site dispatches cities, sheriffs, fire, everything out of one dispatch center for the entire county. They pretty much use one TG for LE and one for Fire, they then use the TACS if they have more than one thing going on at once, simple in smaller Sherburne co, gets a little messier in Hennepin co LOL.

Oh, I don't mind hearing as much as I do kc, that's fine. By the way, I did finally hear and see an AV freq. An officer was stuck in a stairway of an appartment bldg and couldn't get out. Sounded more like car2car, but that's a good sign too.
Yup, we have Empire East and Empire West for our consolidated dispatch. The old freq still works for fire in Eagan, Hastings, AV, B'ville, etc, but everything else has gone up. I did notice that Henn Cty was interesting.............

I still cannot see any difference in what I download and what you sent back to me (Dak Cty Lst3 rev 1) and it looks just like the rest of the files I've downloaded. I have noticed that when I go to upload, if I get a warning that frequencies aren't there, it obviously won't work. But they are there.......just like your rev 1........HHmmmm. I'm still picking at it with a little more success, but not fully understanding or seeing why it works or not.
After resetting, etc like Ron said it seemed to work better, but now it's back to the same.

I wonder if the download from RR is burping ....on my end ? No,,,,not from my end !!! ---on my computer as it's downloading ! Like could it be affected by security sw ?? I use AVG. Just a thought.

You were right on the money Ron.
I took both of your suggestions and reset the radio and reinstalled the ARC500.
I noticed a change right off with resetting the radio and gained a couple of working freq after the sw install.

I forgot to turn off some other sw, so I might redo both again just for poops and giggles.

Found out that NONE of the downloads from RR had any frequencies associated (after importing and then clicking on Trunk System>Frequencies (thanks kc). A simple step that I didn't know how to do or forgot.
Ron's suggestion> reset the radio and reload the RR sw,,,,,, now it imports those frequencies.

I think you guys referred to these frequencies but I may have not understood as my mind was still in a haze.

Still not hearing anything on those files yet, but another piece is of the puzzle is in place.

I am SO sorry that you were witness to that game. I heard the NFL was going to change the rules so that games are only 2 qtrs. That should help.
