NEWBIE - PL TONES on PRO-95

Hi, I'm pretty new to this i used to have a scanner before but just got a new one. I notice on a lot of the frequency listings they include a PL tone, what exactly is a PL tone and how could i use it to benefit me? How exactly do i program it? (Specifically for the PRO-95) THANKS

The Pro95 does not accept PL tones to be programmed. The WIKI will explain what they are:
