Newbie Pro 96 ?

Messing with my new scanner last night I now have on bank numbers 2 and 4 a - sign instead of a + sign. What did I do and why can't I receive or scan any channels in these banks. I tried to see if I locked them out by accident but it does not look like it!! Please help this thing is killing me!!

the + sign means you're in open mode meaning you will hear anything that can be recieved on the system you're monitoring. the - sign is closed mode which will only pick up talkgroups you program into your scanner. check the database for your area as far as which frequencys to program. if you're programming an edacs system you must start on channel 1 of the bank you're using. use your manual to help you.

WIN 96 from STARRSOFT.COM will help you not only program your scanner but see what you have programmed. It is well worth the money for the software and the cable.

Going to get cable tonight since one I bought at RS has female end and so does my laptop!!

That port that you are looking at on your laptop is a video port NOT a serial port. Keep the cable you bought and go buy a serial to usb adapter. Bestbuy will have what you need (Iogear works for sure).
