We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

Is Stamford EDACS either a) encrypted or b) digital?

I am a newbie trying to program my PSR-300 and having no luck. I've got all 6 Stamford south frequencies in a bank by themselves. Everything is set to EDACS. When I scan I can't hear anything. My scanner, however, appears to be receiving signals because it will jump out of scan for a few seconds and then go back to scanning. But everything is completely silent.

If I switch the MAN mode I can hear the "boat engine" of the control channel.

Any hints?

When the stamford system first came out you were to enter both sites in different banks or now with todays scanner memory configs, as 2 different systems. Program north and south sepeartely and enter all control channels. Also, program some talkgroup ids you want to monitor. Be aware the system is switching from edacs to a p25 digital so the psr300 wont be able to track the talk unless you upgrade to the psr500???!!!
