• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

i have a pro-92, and i haven't been able to find anything specifically saying no, but i'm wondering, can i have more than one trunked system programmed into a single bank at a time?

if two motorola systems are using different talkgroups, or if i lock out the bank will the control channels on one system override the other? will the get confused?

same question applies to EDACS, but i'm assuming that since EDACS requires you to program it starting from the first bank, its not possible, but could i program an EDACS and then a motorola in the same bank?

thanks

Moto systems do not care what channel number your frequency is in. So geographically seperated Moto (same type) systems in a bank should be ok. I just had this drilled into my head by others here. ;)

If they are geographically seperated, meaning you can only receive on CC (Control Channel) at any one time, your ok. However if the TG's (Talk Groups) are numerically the same number this could cause you problems in listening/id'ing who you are listening to. If there is seperation and the TG's aren't the same you can program same type Moto into one bank.

I had an ephiphony smacked upside my head with EDACs. The LCN (Logical Control Channel) that a site has *MUST* also be the channel number in your scanner bank. ie LCN #2 *MUST* be channel number 2 in your scanner, so no, you can not have multiple sites in a single bank. This is also why your manual states that EDACS must start with channel #1 not channel #0. I do wish that this was more fully explained as it would have saved me some confusion and mis-understanding. You can however put EDAC systems into ANY EDAC specified bank. ;)
but could i program an EDACS and then a motorola in the same bank?
No. Once you specify they type of trunking a bank will do, that is it and you can not mix and match.

Hope this helps and maybe Lou or someone will jump in if my explaination is incorrect or off. Like I said this is new to me as well.

makes sense

ok, on the multiple motorola banks, that makes sense. I think i actually programmed some that way in the beginning to see if it was possible, but got frustrated because i wasn't getting stuff on one of the systems (which i attribute now to a reception issue).

for the EDACS, when i said

since EDACS requires you to program it starting from the first bank

i meant channel, not bank (and yeah, i meant channel 1 in a bank, not channel 0. DOH!)

OK, thanks, i'm gonna try all this newfound knowledge when i get home. these people here keep bugging me to do "work"..
