Hello everyone-
Pardon my newbie question, but I am new to scanning in Connecticut and recently purchased the Pro-96. Was able to load the CSP file from the V folder and can receive CSP transmissions.
I live in the shoreline area (Hwy 9/I 95 area) and have been under the impression that CSP is the primary (or only) police force in many of these towns and that CSP disptaches for some of the towns that have their own police.
Have been listening for quite a few days now and can hear troop F Disp and F-Car, but I am only occasionaly hearing traffic for incidents along I 95 (routine traffic stops, stranded motorists, etc). I have yet to hear any dispatches for incidents in any of the surrounding towns that are covered by CSP. I assume this area probably isn't a hot bed for police action, but I am suprised that I am not hearing more given the amount of time I have been listening. To make a long story short, am I missing something? Are there other frequencies that I may need?

Thanks
Matlock

Most dispatches are sent over MDT's (Mobile Data Terminals) ie. computers, which you cannot hear with a scanner. Also if you hear FCxx (where xx is as numeric value) you are hearing a town constable. ie local PD. Here is a list of Troop F constable numbering.

Troop F Constable Area

FC 10-29 Westbrook
FC 30-45 Old Lyme
FC 50-51 Middlefield
FC 60-69 Chester
FC 70-80 Essex
FC 90-99 Deep River

With the exception of Rt 9, 95 etc, F Troop isn't really that busy. Most of the towns they cover are "fairly well off" and generally low crime area's. The bulk of their work are MVA/Traffic/AOPA's etc.

Thanks for the info about the constables. I actually did hear some dispatches today so I guess everything is working OK on my end. Probably a combination of such things as the use of MDTs and the low crime in this area.
Are you familar with monitoring this area - ie Valley Shore Dispatch, etc?

Thanks

Kinda what I assumed but just wanted to be sure that I wasn't missing a freq. Makes for a good quality of life but boring local monitoring!

Thanks

anyone know if all the conrol channels are properly listed in the database? I am thinking of changing my programing from all freq to cc only. Are there really any benefits?

What is everyone's prefered method of listening? cc mode or all freq mode? If cc mode are the cc's listed in the database a complete list?
