I have a Pro97, and I downloaded Win97 to program it.

Ok, here's my questions;

1. For conventional scanning, does the CT/DC section in Win97 have any meaning?

2. There is a frequency that is used by 2 close by cities that have different PL's. Is there a pick up just one, and not the other? Or do I have to hear both?

That's it for now....

That is CTCSS/DCS mode, if you want to set a CTCSS/DCS tone, you use one of these modes. See these links: http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/CTCSS

Just program in the FD's CTCSS tone that you want to hear, and you won't hear any transmissions other than the ones you want to hear.

Hope this helps, :)

The CT/DC selector allows for the entry of different PL's, Ct for standard PL's and DC for digital ones. (I know others will explain it better!) So selecting the needed CT or DC and entering the assigned PL tone will allow for selective listening, you will be able to listen to your chosen agency and ignore the others. Or as in my case I use the PL's to isolate the different agencies so the alpha tags all make sense.
(Colin types faster than me!)
