newbie to area myrtle beach

i hear virtually nothing on horry county p25 .i am using a whistler ws1080 and rubber antenna. my location is near rt 501/carolina forest. i hear some sheriffs on palmetto system but not much else. where is all the mb action?

You shouldn't have a problem there receiving the new Horry P25 system. I am not familiar with Whistler but I suggest you make sure you are using the correct control channel (859.7125) and you have the proper P25 settings in the scanner. In a few weeks you will have to make changes for the Palmetto 800 system when they change to P25, too.

Hi,

I was just there the week of July 4th and heard the new P25 system clearly.

I used an old GRE-500 and just set up a wildcard to catch all the talk groups.

ok i deleted all sc lists and downloaded horry county and palmetto...and hearing mb, surfside, and lots of other stuff,, it does seem the radios are over modulated on some of those stations. from carolina forest area . picking up several channels which seem to be just data...static...
