Hi all,
I am going to purchase either the 296D or the 396T very soon. I used to have scanners several years ago until everything went digital. I live in the West Los Angeles area so I need to step up and get a good scanner and I've heard so much about these two models; I'm can't wait to start listening again! Now....here is my question: I will be listening the majority of the time to my local PD and FD..and then I'll have a couple divisions of the LAPD too. But I really don't need 6000 channels, (the 396T) and I'm not sure that the 296D will serve my purpose. I also require reading glasses to see some things, and this maybe a really stupid question but the new model seems so small....does that mean the LCD screen is small (and the writing tiny) too? I won't be taking the scanner out on the road with me, I'll being using it at home probably just at my bedside...or around the house.
So....what do you experts think? Which model is more user friendly and easy to program....easy to use? So if I were your next door neighbor or or mother what would you tell me to buy? :lol: I only say that because you the posters here are amazing...you all know so much. But I'm just the average "Jill next door" user and I don't want to overwhelm myself.
