1- I have a older but used very little, RS 2052 base model, Dual Trunking, scanning Mecklenburg County NC. Just got it back out of the closet for about a year and updated the local frequency changes. I have the stock antenna and the optional 20-006 center loaded whip one.
The radio loses transmission right in the middle of conversations a lot. I don't remember it doing that much before. Could this be something in the radio or something they do now to break it up so you cannot follow as close?

2- I have a chance to purchase a brand new Pro 433 Triple Trunking base for a hundred bucks. It's being discontinued by RS but I was thinking it may be a pretty good radio for that. I paid more than that for the 2052 four years ago. No digtal needed around here yet. What about these two models?

Thanks in advance for your advise.

Are you absolutely sure you have the 2052 programmed correctly? Are you listening to the char/meck 800mhz system or something else?

Have you tried it on conventional frequencies? Say a NWS 162mhz frequency to see if it breaks up on a continues transmission.
