Ok sorry to bother you guys but I'm a volunteer fire fighter and I bought a scanner (Pro 95) from radio shack and I have really no clue on this trunking thing. I was wondering if yall could give me some step by step instructions on how to program channels for it. My county uses a EDACS system (pro-voice) and i looked up the DEC talk group IDs in the RR database. I appreciate the help guys.

Is this a mixed mode EDACS Provoice, or a pure provoice digital system? If its a pure provoice digital, your out of luck as there is no scanner made that will do PV digital.

Also, the Radio Shack you bought it from should be able to program it for you for free. If they can't get it to work, have them take it back before it is too late.

If you buy a scanner at my Radio Shack store, it comes programmed with Washoe County EDACS, NSRS EDACS, and most 150 MHZ federal/state/local agency's.

You are apparently unfamiliar with the RS return policy. Also, programming on the Pro-95 is free, as advertised widely. :)

No no, you mis-understood  . You told him to take it back, that they "should be able to program it for you" According to him, It's a Pro-Voice system, I'd love to see what they tell him!

Ahh. Okay, I understand. BTW, the system he is talking about is not ProVoice, but it is capable of it and if various agencies in Montgomery Co. ever get enought spare money, they might even buy a digital capable radio, in the meantime, everything on the system is in the clear. :)

Yep, I found that out in later posts, but at the time I was taking his word for it! :)
