I ran across a new LTR system in the metro this week. The casino at Newcastle is using a system on UHF.

The license shows 5 frequencies, but I only heard idle databursts on two of them. Also only heard voice on the same two channels. The system is now in the database.

The databursts are much quicker than the systems I have heard before --mabe 3 or 4 seconds apart. Also, my 796 will not decode the talkgroups. Anyone have anything to decode Passport LTR systems?

Next to a scanner...
I am unable to pick those up from my location with LTRtrunk or even hear a data burst on the channels. I'll have to make a mobile-LTRtrunker!

How far away can you hear that stuff? I could put a little higher antenna if you can usually hear it far. Otherwise, I'll have to try the mobile set-up.

My friend and I checked out the system they had a while back. Did it change since then? I thought they were using two conventional freqs w/ DPL tones. Just curious...

Gilligan--

Yeah, I think the LTR system is brand new. Maybe just the last couple of weeks.
I checked and I didn't hear anything on the conventional freqs any more.

Mark--

I hear them as far north as the airport :)

Just FYI, one of the frequencies (461.9125MHz) is also used by Reminton Park on the north side.
