newest planned setup idea

ok this is my 3rd idea change to my mobile setup.

I plan on using the pro 97 I already have attaching the through glass antenna powering it through the vehicles power outlet and putting an external speaker or two in. I know i should have a bigger reciever like the 2055 for a mobile but i'm in college and i can hide the 97 in the storage area in my dodge neon and keep everything all attached. As I said before I know shouldnt hide my scanner even though NC has no law against mobile use but there were a lot of breakins into cars and if it looks like nothing is there then there would be noreason for the guys looking for stuff to pawn for beer money to break into my car.

Any other ideas?

ABSOLUTELY. It happened to me at college in 1990. They caught the idiots who tried to break into my pickup and I ended up getting restitution for it, but it still sucked to have a bent up and scratched wing window. And I didn't even have any electronics visible other than the non-stock stereo. (Which was a shaft model even. Not worth that much.)

The window mount antenna is an invitation in itself. A magnet mount would be better. Then your car could look totally stock and boring. If you've already got it on there, oh well. But I would recommend to all college bound people to keep your stuff ultra portable and with you at all times.

That goes for computers also. Back in '90 a laptop was outrageous money so everybody had desktops. Today, a desktop is stupid because you can more easily take a laptop home with you. (Of course a theif can more easily take a laptop, but if you let it out of your sight then that's your problem.)

I wish I had a pic of my scanner install back then so I could keep this somewhat on topic. It was a PRO-2030 that was mounted to the top of the dash with velcro. (And no, it wasn't in there when the idiots tried to break in it.) Oh, those were the days.
