I'm looking to purchase the newest latest advanced portable handheld scanner, any brand. I want all the features, i.e. fire decoding, StarCom 21 capability, preprogrammed, etc. I prefer to buy it at a store but would consider the internet.

The best scanner is the BCD396t or even better is the RS Pro-106. If you want to at the store go with RS. Please Don't post the same message in all the treads,.
I agree for store buys the Pro-106 might be the best esp for pre-progamming (they can sometimes program it for you)
Although im sure you have seen the other 396XT threads.. wait for the BCD396Xt to come out.
That should be available within a month or two (or three haha)... then you will have the LATEST scanner
And your local radio store will have it
