Newport News people?

Any one around from the Newport News area that talk to me about the NNFD? Like Medic 701? What is it? and why is it numbered so different than Medic 3,4,5,6 etc? and it still responds to ALS calls alone?

Here is a response (edited for clarity) from a friend with NNFD:

Medic 701 (soon to be medic 27): the second medic running out of #7 . Usually responds alone, but engine also responds on certain calls like shootings, stabbings, heart attacks, etc .

Engine 301 (soon to be engine 23): Second engine out of #3.

Station one has many special units: Dive 1 (dive team unit), FIREBOAT 21 (our second fire boat), MIRT 1 (Marine Incident Response Team).

You are absolutley right, and that's where I started, It shows at NN Station 1 a unit called 1253?

Funny thing is that the cities page http://www.ci.newport-news.va.us/fire/ shows Station 5 still under construction and it's been open for awhile now, I'm sure they'll get around to the update.

1253 is more than likely the rig's shop ID number, not it's radio designation. The shop ID's are on the rigs, usually on the driver's side from cab face. 8)

Well, try submitting some updates to me once in a while instead of using my site as a base and then submitting all the good info you find out to this site and maybe it will be updated more often. Thank you.
