Mississippi Automated Systems Project (MASP) which is a 19million tax payer funded project to provide several law enforcement and jail agencies in Mississippi with seamless wireless communications through a computer interface has FLOPPED!

It started in 2002, and has not produced anything useful yet. It's plauged with problems, and my department dropped the project over a year ago when we discovered it could not interface with our current system, and there was nothing that could be done about it. And now everyone else in Harrison County is dropping it too.

A news article about it is here:

Sad to see that. Maybe it was just too advanced for what the State had at the time. Perhaps when the MWIN is really rolling they can beef it up and make it work using the framework ASTRO-25 provides?

Nope, thats not it at all.. The system is CRAP. In 2003 they said that all of our officers would have computers in the vehicles that were all linked together. Now they're saying it'll be 2010 before they can have that, and by trying to adapt to something that a florida department is using. The software is incompatible with everything. The jail software doesn't do what they were promised it would do. No one can communicate or share data like they promised it would do. Right now the state is looking at a FRAUD case. Apparently some guy in like the ukraine wrote the software, and sold it to USM, and USM developed it and the state att. generals office took the program. Anyhow they're looking at CRIMINAL charges right now because the state feels it got duped. Harrison County doesn't use Motorola
