Hello Everyone,
I am the Radio Systems Administrator for an SMR Service in my area. We currently have 31 sites that are running Gen 2. We have been experiencing a myriad of issues with the Gen 2 system. So much so that we are considering reverting all our sites back to Gen 1 as our coverage area has shrank considerably and customers are not happy. I have noticed that when observing the symbol decode for a local control channel, one of the symbols is off by about 5%-10%. This is true for every NXR-5800 we have tested. The process for tuning these repeaters in no small task, especially considering the number we currently have deployed...
We have a Gen1 and Gen2 control channel co-located at the same site, fed into the same combiner and antenna. (All of which is new and factory tuned by TX/RX Systems) I ran a test to see what the fringe RSSI is. Please see the attached photo for the comparison. This test was ran on two good mobile antennas of the same gain and location on the vehicle. Has anyone else ran into this issue with Gen2?
