Can anyone advise the new guy in Asheville what might be good listening next Monday?

Most everything should be busy. You can try searching the 162-174 range, but don't expect to hear much. USSS will be full encrypted.

Keep an ear on the Asheville TRS mainly. APD had most of the fun last year on their events/special ops channels. The database is extremely accurate so go off that for best reference. I didn't notice much of a difference on the county fire/sheriff channels minus units checking out of service to standby for the event.

Ah yes, forgot a very important piece to the puzzle....VIPER.

Expect lots of security/escort/road closures from SHP. Most presidential visits wind up on a statewide Events channel...so don't forget to keep an ear open on VIPER too. Thanks for the reminder.

Thats just lovely. I drive through Asheville on my way to Knoxville everyday so I'm sure that will buger up the highways.

Shouldn't be too bad. It wasn't back in 2008. He touched down at KAVL and hopped I26 to downtown. If you take 40/240 all the way through I don't forsee that much issues. Good luck though.

Even tho ENC, folks it's still INTEL so post what you did Find [incl PL/DPL/NACs] :wink: And don't always lock the ENC Channels out, you can be amazed at what can happen when they [OOPPS] drop ENC

Thanks to everyone for your input. It looks like I probably have the bases covered with my current configuration. I've heard AF-1 in comms with KORD and AF-2 w/ KUGN previously, so monitoring KAVL tower will probably be my first clue....
