is there yet any definite time frame for nextel to take down ucan this summer.or would it be better to wait until my trunked scanners go silent.

Looks like it will be May of 2007 at the earliest according to UCAN's info.

Are we going to have to replace our scanners when the new system takes over?

The general consensus so far is the following scanners will be able to be reflashed for rebanding once the new trunking tables are established:

Radio Shack Pro-96/2096; Pro-97/2055

Uniden BCD396D; BC246T; BC296D; BC796D; BC898T; BCT8 and maybe the BR330T.

I forgot to add the new BCD-996 and BCT-15 to the Uniden list.

According to the Radio Shack website that you posted the Pro-97 will NOT support rebanding.

Good point, but a Radio Shack distributor rep I talked to "guaranteed" the Pro-97 will be able to be flashed for rebanding. So we'll see in due time.

Ive heard stories both ways from RS and Others.... the only thing I know is that when they reband i will find out if I need a new scanner or just a upgrade.
