I have Nextgen up and running flawlessly on my SDS-100 but am having a heck of a time with the TRX-1. Going digital and missing transmissions. I'm pretty sure it's simulcast distortion but want to make sure settings are correct. Is "Autofill" the correct setting for the trunking table setting? Also, under sub-type I noticed the West Simulcast imported at P25 but South was "Auto". Any suggested settings for Whistler scanners? Many thanks.

The TRX series apparently have some issues...there is a post about it on the Whistler subforum...has to do with the alignmnet/tuning of the receivers being off, causing it to become slightly off channel and not able to deal with LSM. My TRX2 cannot do the SD City 700, while my older WS1098's receive it like gangbusters.

Interesting...what DSP setting are you using?

I think I just live in a horrible location for phase II, equi-distant between Cowles and Rattlesnake.. My 1080 doesn't work any better than the TRX-1. And no luck with my 436. So thank goodness I took the plunge and got the SDS-100.

NextGen is not currently Phase 2 for fire/law traffic. I live near Jackson and Navajo, right under Cowels, I can litterally see the transmitters on the mountain, looking at them as I type this.

I‘ve heard Phase 2 on West Cell. I believe it was Escondido Fire, but don't hold me to that. I’ll pay attention and confirm.

Whilw it may not be Phase II but the distortion is horrible on the Whistlers on Nextgen where I am.

Ironic since they worked better than my Unidens on the old RCS.

i agree 100%. This has been my experience as well. A Yagi helps on the Whistlers.

Different / newer antennas on the NG equipment, so the patterns / power levels have changed.

I put the NextGen specific (not rebanded) bandplan in my Whistler and Unidens, just to speed things up...otherwise, they need to sit on the control channel and wait for the bandplan data to be rebroadcast before functioning.

Just to clarify, for Nextgen...the Whistler's don't need the custom band info that was posted for the Unidens?

Even the Unidens DID NOT need any custom bandplan for the rebanding on RCS. But NextGen is NOT rebanding, it is a totally new system, NOT Splinter, and doesn't need any custom bandplan.
