Sorry about that Ben, but at least some of the NF2G links were already removed. There wasn't very much, frankly - just a couple of links to some of the NY counties, and one on the NY Collaboration page that pointed to Dave's site directly. I don't know of any other links, and Lindsay could indeed throw together a little SQL to see what else might be there as was suggested.

According to the change logs, Chemung, Clinton, Dutchess, Erie and Washington counties all had links.

Since I did the dirty deed, if you want me to revert these articles - I think I can still do that, even though I'm not an admin anymore - email me to let me know. I probably won't get to it until tomorrow evening at the earliest.

Dave, thank you for all you've done to provide NY scanner listeners with useful information.

Volunteers to help transfer information from Dave's pages to the Wiki are welcome. Remember that the primary purpose of the Wiki articles is to present information (FTO, radio IDs, usage or system details) that isn't easily kept in the database. If you would like to help, pick a county and let me know via PM.

I have already heard from volunteers for Fulton and Monroe Counties and it looks like someone is working on Cayuga and Dutchess Counties. Thank you.

Everyone,

While Dave and I had disagreements, I think two things are given. One, I am shocked that he took down his site in such short notice, and two, Dave is really the best at cultivating a local scanning reference. He is the standard that many local references judge themselves by.

His contributions are so significant that I want him to realize that our team recognizes it. I sent him an email today to let him know he's got a Uniden homePatrol, with his name on it, coming to him just as soon as he sends me his address. Free of charge, no strings attached, no obligations.

Lindsay, that's so very good of you to offer that Dave! While I haven't been following this thread and have no idea WHY Dave decided to drop his website, I applaud you for hospitality to Dave.

Take all the time you need for the migration. I am not hurrying to take the site offline. I am simply halting maintenance and updates on it. The current state of the website is stable, so nothing will be altered after someone has transferred it to the DB or the Wiki.

To answer some other questions: My decision to stop maintaining my own website was not connected in any way to issues with anyone else. It is strictly a personal choice. Among the reasons for it is the fact that I am actively seeking to move away from New York as soon as possible. The employment situation here is intolerable. Except for my family members who still live here (although 4+ hours down the Thruway from where I am now), there is nothing to keep me here at all. It seemed best to discontinue the website while there was still some time to preserve the information for the hobbyist community, rather than to have to make it disappear suddenly.

Thank you all again for your support and positive comments.

Without a doubt, the information from your site will be an invaluable addition to the RR DB/Wiki, and wherever else it winds up online. Good luck with wherever life takes you next.

Just to be clear about this so I don't ruffle any feathers: I've made an archive of your entire site in unmolested form, which I'd like to upload as a zip file once you do take the site offline. This way people who are interested in having a preserved copy of your entire site in original form on their local computer can do so. You have any gripe with that? I would think not since you've already clearly specified that any and all info/data on the site is released into the public domain with no restrictions.

I don't have a problem with that. As the information now becomes part of the RRDB, and Lindsey does distribute a CD from that source, I guess he would be the one to consult about any distribution issues now.

Dave as a nieghbor a little distance north of you in the county, I want to thank you for the amazing data your site has given to me. My BC346XT by my side wouldn't have pleasure to scan as much as it does without the information on your site. Thank You for the amazing research you have done

The NF2G.com domain expired yesterday. I am working on renewing it, but the website and my email are offline until this is corrected.

In the meanwhile, and so the data transfer to the RR DB/Wiki can continue uninterrupted, the entire site can be viewed here:

Thanks. I tried the IP address directly and can't get in that way, either, so chauffer's option is the best right now.

Make sure you didn't get bought by a domain harvester. They buy up expired domains and sell them back to the original owner. My ip blocking software is blocking your domain as "malicious".

It might be the firewall at SSA that is causing this, but I'm timing out when I try to get to this...73 Mike

It's loading fine for me. Anyone else having an issue getting to the mirrored site I uploaded?
