Has anyone noticed improved reception on 800 mhz reception or Control channel decoding using by setting systems to FM as opposed to NFM? Has anyone noticed better reception or cc decoding on the 500 mhz band using NFM as opposed to FM? What do these settings actually do?

The setting is meant for analog modulation modes. I need to do a bit more testing, but on a system the 436 was struggling on in my area - the 500 MHz Bucks County Type II with P-25 voice, changing the modulation to FM for the south simulcast site seems to have made a noticeable positive impact.

This begs the question - is there any downside to switching all systems that use digital voice from NFM to FM? Will this cause any negative impacts on certain systems?

Actually, if you hold on a talkgroup on that particular system, then press FUNC + Channel/MOD it will change the modulation not only for that talkgroup but for the entire system. At least on the 436.

You da man! Thanks. I think it has helped, but I'll have to listen for a while longer.
