scanning my local 800 edacs trs system by convential means i use the narrow fm setting scanning with rs pro 2042. now moving to my 780xlt programming the same system i have to use wfm. why the difference
I don't own one but as far as I know on that scanner when you select the type of system you can choose EDACS wide or EDACS narrow. If you select wide I assume it will be looking only for wide band frequencies. This will relate to the data rate of the control channel. Perhaps it really is wide band? Wide is common at 800 MHz. With the nature of modern FM demodulators you can choose the wrong one and it makes little to no difference in the resulting audio for analog signals.
