What are the best frequencies to monitor the NHP Air Patrol? I'm particularly interested in the Las Vegas and Reno areas. I not sure if the frequency they use is specific to their location or patrol area. Is the Air Unit tied into any trunk system, or do they use the VHF band only?

Can anyone verify that Nevada has only two (2) units that patrol the entire state of Nevade.? That's hard to believe, but according to the NHP web site, NHP says they only have two aircraft.

NHP's budget will permit only those two aircraft. It is not cheap to maintain aircraft.
The aircraft usually use normal NHP frequencies and talkgroups to talk with ground units.
However, when doing speed enforcement in conjunction with ground units they can show up almost anywhere. The standard 800 MHz mutual aid channels in simplex mode, LV4 on the TRS in LV, or recently 155.790 simplex which is licensed to NV and is part of the VHF backup system in Southern Nevada. Happy listening. The Southern Nevada Scanner Book outlines the backup system in more detail as well as their other talkgroups and frequencies if you have it.
