according to the article its kind of a shame that Niagara Falls PD isnt joining the system.even though its low powered analogue,i have monitored it a few times when the tropo was good and it provided some good listening.i find it hard to believe that they couldnt be part of the new county system due to the number of calls they experience.so far,im receiving the new system pretty well, weather permitting.

It should be on the new system and that officer in the article is wrong Niagara Falls does not have more calls then the rest of the County combined. There is probably about 3 times the calls for the rest of the county compared to the Falls

BCD536HP - setup for new nia county

Total newbie here... at least to trunking...

Can someone give me some help getting the new Nia County setup programmed into my 536HP?

I'm using the sentinel software, updated the database from online. This new data is not there.
So, I need to create a location called NiaTrunk in favorites, and fill in the data found for the Motorla system on this site?

I am really lost... I cant even see where to enter in any freqs of the control channels...
Not even sure if this is Project 25, or Motorola, or I am very unfamiliair with the terminology..

OK, since I can't see my previous post earlier this AM, please disregard.

There was a database update just after I started on this task, and what do you know, the settings populated into the DB for Nia County trunk... So... all set. Got it to the receiver, and it works.

They are simulcasting on both freqs and the trunked stuff sounds very muffled.

yes cutover at 9:30am this morning.
The dispatch sounds OK, but cars sound kinda "watery" at times. Its nice to hear the zone cars now, on simplex before I'd only hear close stuff on indoor antenna.

Whats strange is I hear both Sheriffs cars, and NT PD on the same channel.
Not sure how to isolate them... when the scan stops, it says "ALL" and Niagara County Sheriff Dispatcher" no matter who is talking.

I am in Brockport (Monroe County) with a Telewave ANT280S up in my attic and I can hear things clear as day. Pretty amazing that I can hear this system better than the Harris System here in Monroe County...

I'm also new to the Digital system, what is everyone using for a scanner? I have been thinking about the Uniden BCD436HP portable or the Uniden BCD536HP base unit. Anyone have any experience with either of these and will they work for the new system?

Thank you, Dan in Lockport

Dan,
There's a lot of info around, this site and others. Be prepared to be overwhelmed.
I can't say what's better or what's not.
But, take this into consideration, it might be on this thread even...
You might want to make sure whatever you get is apco 25 phase 2 compatible.
Even though they are running phase 1 currently, I'd hate to get painted into a corner if they changed.

I wonder what all the volunteer firefighters are doing... Buying expensive digital Motorola stuff?
NT fire freq 154.130 is dead, so no simulcast there.
