Niagara Region P25 System

Hi everyone,

Wondering if there is anyone in Niagara Region who could confirm the P25 system info. I’ve taken my Unication G4 up there twice, including today, and it doesn’t seem to want to lock onto the system. Says “scanning” then times out and goes out of range.

I’m wondering if perhaps the system ID isn’t correct. I unfortunately don’t have my laptop with me to correct it or put in the wildcard. Is the Hex still 6F1? Anyone able to double check it?

The Unication hardware also utilizes the system ID in programming. I’m sure the frequencies are correct, was just wondering if something else had changed. I’ll have to try the wildcards and then try to hit it from the waterfront in Toronto one day. Wish I’d brought my scanner with me as well today.

I'll be in the Falls tomorrow and will have my G5 (and other radios) with me. I'll let you know how it goes but I'm not expecting any issues. I had some great tropo last week and was able to pull that system in on a commercial radio with no problems.

Definitely let me know! I just pulled the data with the import feature in PPS, I took a look and it all seems to match. Wondering where I could’ve gone wrong.

I’ve been able to pull it from the lakefront in Toronto before pretty well, so I should be able to test it more on Friday perhaps.

I got a lock on it now (From Oshawa!!!!) The system ID was correct and comes up as 6F1 when using a wildcard.

I believe the RFSS in the DB may have been my issue - it’s listed as 0 and imports as that, but I’m getting it as 1 when setting it to wildcard in PPS.

Ah! You are correct... The RFSS ID is 1, it definitely shouldn't be 0. I'll correct that in the DB right now.

Working great here in the falls. The incorrect RFSS ID was definitely the issue.

I'm in Niagara Region using a TRX-1. It worked fine last time. I'm seeing but not hearing talkgroups.

What am I missing here?

Last time I took my 436HP there (several months prior to this post), I had a great signal but was continually losing the control channel - So perhaps simulcast reception is your enemy here.

If you are seeing activity but not hearing anything... that's usually a good indicator of simulcast issues.

Like everyone else I'm having an issue loading Niagara. Everything seems fine on the program however when it gets to the radio all the talk groups are there but everything else seems to disappear.
I've never been one to program scanners and wonder if it's my issue and not the radio. Is there anyone in the Toronto area willing to help with the G5?
