Have all the channels programmed into my pro-163, but only hear channel 7A of the service. I know that is for section A of the service, as I hear the towers sign in and out everyday plus response too towns such as Budd lake and Sparta. Any reason why I can not hear anything from Section B. I'm located in Monmouth county.

The Div A towers in north Jersey are on much higher elevations then the towers in Div B. Like 1,000+ ft mountains. Div B towers aren't as high since its mostly flat. You should be able to receive Lakewood at least.

Skypilot; Hear plenty from Div A, and yes have all those programmed in.

Tech792; I can understand the elevations at times I can pick up select towns from that way, but no not hearing anything from the Lakewood tower at all for Div B.

Currently hearing Div A for Stillwater area at this monment at 2:17 pm. I'm sure Div B should at least hear something once in awhile with the Ops in Ocean County going on yet.

Skypilot007, did you smell the smoke from today's Shamong >50 acre FF? Quite noticeable this afternoon ne of Red Lion circle. Showers moving through now should help put a damper on it.

Sorry Tom I missed your post here. Yeah we had the smoke odor all day until the winds shifted and we got a little rain. I was on a dirt bike yesterday and ran across the other fire down off Atsion Rd near Goshen pond camp ground. Kinda circum navigated around it and rode out towards Atco raceway, stayed on that side of Jackson road the rest of the day. Its a timber box out there...dry as bone. Rain is needed.

Yes, we need rain. The smoke plume from yesterday's fire could be seen on the DIX NWS radar. Wood smoke attracts my attention; I should be used to it after living here for almost 40 years.

What radio frequencies are they using for the fire in Camden County for the Degolia Fire and are they using any trunked radio systems?

No trunked except the park police.
All NJFFS is on VHF. For that fire, it was channel 7A.....159.24 (82.5)

Don't know if you're using an outside antenna or not but Cherry Hill isn't that far from Sunday's fire. There is a fire tower right there in Blue Anchor. I was getting the aircraft on my mobile radio out on Rt 70 in Manchester while enroute. If you aren't using an outside antenna, I would suggest you consider one. Would make a big difference.

Last night, I heard Car 52 call out of service on 151.19. I'm assuming this is Division A Fire Warden ?

Well, we have rain. No way anything can be smoldering after after the last 24 hours of melted global warming. Even have a few puddles on the sand and loam at the house, bird baths are filled. Those fighting the FFs should get a bit of well-earned rest now.

No, most likely a DEP unit or NJ State Park Police unit. They are the primary users of that frequency.

State Park Police are either 700 or 800 units. Maybe just a DEP unit like you mention. Thanks.
