Make sure you have Medevac, MONOC, and Atlantic Air One in your scanners...they're all going to be getting busier in the next couple of weeks...

Why are they getting busier? Are you making reference to the onset of winter or some other reason?

Word is, in the very near future, there is going to be a change to the regs regarding air medical dispatching in NJ...

I think he might be referring to the fact that there will be a lot more cars on the road with the Thanksgiving holiday and Christmas shopping, and Christmas parties (people drinking and driving), which would all add up to more accidents that may require MedEvac. Just a thought.

the only problem with listening to monoc dispatch is they never stop talking.they really don't say much in the way to be considered interesting.with the way the hippa law is,now it's just "trauma" or "medical". my quick fix is that i just have the dispatch input and pl tone in my scanner.this way if the helo.is close i at least have a shot of hearing them without having to listen to all the other B.S. they talk more than my local p.d. who i have to lockout too, because they drive me crazy !.

SouthStar operates on Talk Group 26800, primarly on the Troop A & C Systems. NorthStar operates on Talk Group 26832, primarly on the Troop B System, although, if they have a job in Troop C's area, you can sometimes here them on the Troop C System. They use 154.265 CSQ (no PL or DPL), which is the South Jersey Fire Net, for landing zone coordination with the fire units that set up the landing zones.

News Event?

Went out yesterday (11/23) with family to new Cheeburger Cheeburger in Cherry Hill. Didn't have scanner along.

About 5:00 P.M., noticed helicopter hovering north of Wegman's (probably around Merchantville or Pennsauken).

Got home just in time to hear Sky Fox leaving area for fuel (operation finished).

Anyone know what was going on?

This is completely off-topic and has been discussed in other threads multiple times so I won't elaborate, but as this is a common misconception I feel it is important that it is pointed out. Sending a unit to 1st Ave & 2nd St "for the Medical" or "for the Trauma, Motor Vehicle" has nothing to do with HIPAA and everything to do with MONOC just being MONOC. Your typical initial dispatch or report to the hospital on the HEAR or MED channels includes no protected health information ("PHI") and is not covered by patient privacy legislation.

But please, don't believe me, refer to an actual copy of the legislation and other related threads.
