NJFFS is staying on VHF. The 800 mhz was already discussed and ruled out a few years ago.

I know that the Parks side have been receiving new VHF portable radios in analog format (smaller handhelds that are Motorolla) slowly throughout the state. Cheesequake just got them in Nov. and Allaire is slated to get them in the Spring, from what I was told. I did notice that Worthington was using them during the past summer, so maybe their working their way from North to South?? I do know that most of the equipment is from the 70's and 80's, and much of it is in disrepair now. I will inquire what the plan/deal is with the NJSP TRS radios later on in the week.

Not everyone is on it just yet. I heard units on both Ch. 1 and on the Trunk System. The last activity on the trunk system was about 7:30 last night.

Could it be they just have a talkgroup on the NJSP system to talk to the police but they're still using the VHF radios to communicate within the parks? I wouldn't delete those VHF fequencies from your scanners just yet!
I just heard them on the B system I put them in the "OUTSIDE AGENCIES" Group

My Guess is that they are going to replace Ch. 1 with the talkgroup. Not everyone is using it either, I heard several units still on VHF yesterday.

Plus, you have to figure that the NJSP TRS was not built to consider some of these remote locations they work in.

I'm betting that the VHF system will be in place for a while.

Heard from my co-worker that he was told that all DEP units were to move to the Trunk System.Whoever told him, said they were moving to a new band.

In the land of make believe
I bet you don't believe that trunk systems work either and only VHF conventional makes sense!!
Statewide operations demand statewide coverage. Interoperability is something you need to get used to even in NJ.
