Hello,
to start sorry if this is in the wrong section,
Im trying to learn what antennas were used in NJ police cars.

I bought some impalas and crown victorias and they all have antenna bases in it, and would think it would be better to use it because i cant really take them out (and have them look right)

I drive I-78 through NJ and PA a lot,
Am wondering what would be the best to know where the police are,

Are CB radios usefull anymore?
Scanners?

Why are there so many mounts on the NJ police cars, the one car i have, has 5 antenna bases??

attached are pictures of what they wrote, maybe it makes sense to someone,
Does anyone know what the hocky puck looking antenna is?

Those are just New Motorola NMO mounts. 4" probably for UHF, VHF is the 18" and the Millenium was probably for a scanner.

Not sure if CB is common for your area, listen to channel 9 or 19 for radio traffic.

NMO antennas should fit those mounts shown in the pictures.

as far as best way to know where police are, try the "Waze" app on your smartphone. Next would probably be listening to the cb (ch19). Scanner is probably about the last choice for trying to figure out where they are.

Thank you,
I already have radar detectors and ALP's and waze, but was thinking a CB and maybe a scanner wouldnt hurt if i can get a used one cheap.
