Hey Everyone...

When monitoring the NJ Metro Com system I noticed that you can only hear one side of the conversation / communication even on a commercial 800 conventional radio with the proper frequencies does anyone one how that system works ?

Thanks

Tony

It's a conventional duplex radio BUT IT IS NOT A REPEATER! I repeat, it is NOT A REPEATER! To listen to both sides of the conversation, you will need to program the mobile frequency as well as the base frequency. So you will need 857.3875 and 859.3875 for the base and 812.3875 and 814.3875 for the mobile. Note that you will only hear the mobile unit transmitting if it is in close proximity to you. To make a comparison, the setup of this system is similar to the PA State Police VHF channels where you need both frequencies to listen to the whole conversation. So far in my monitoring I've only been able to hear the base side even though I have the mobile frequencies programmed. I'm just never near that elusive transmitting unit. Good luck catching the mobile unit transmitting and hopefully this will answer your question.
