Can someone tell me why I can't recieve ACPD trunking but I can get South ern NJSP. Also I used to hear ACE once in a while now it seems as though they don't communicate at alll. If they got dropped off of my system how od I get them back?

Also I don't hear anything from the casino's, don't they talk much?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John

ACPD is NOT encrypted. All main dispatching is done in ASTRO mode in the clear. All other city public-safety services (FD & EMS) are actually still on their VHF systems, with cross-band patches into the trunk system (I tried them last week - naughty me!).

On the other hand, most towns in the county on the wide-area EDACS system have dispatcher-initiated simulcasts when they send out a squad or FD on the VHF pagers.

In regards to the Hotels and casinos being low power. Next week I am planning on heading down to AC and staying in the Tropicana. I see that they do not have a trunked system. Can someone please tell me the frequencies used by them? I haven't been able to come up with them after doing some searches. Also, If I am in the Tropicana, would it be possible to hear say, Trump Marina or Showboat? Pretty much I guess I'm asking, how far away would I be able to hear a low power system. Also, would the height of the room affect how far I can hear (aka, I could hear further away)? Are the ACBP very talkative? What would be some good systems to monitor while down in AC? Thanks.

ACPD IS DIGITAL 800 MOT TRS. ACFD & ACBP ARE ANALOG 800 MOT TRS. THIS IS A MIXED MODE SYSTEM. I HAVE NO IDEA WHO HEARD WHAT ON THE OLD VHF FREQS SINCE THEY WERE TURNED OVER TO OTHER USES. THE OLD ACFD 154.25 IS USED BY BEACH & BWLK DPW. AS FOR HOW MUCH TALK ON ACBP IT IS ALMOST ALL ADMINISRATIVE ITEMS SUCH AS MAKING SURE WHO HAS WHAT CPR CERTIFICATION OR A REPORT OF A LOST CHILD. ONCE IN A WHILE A REQUEST FOR EMS FOR A FALL VICTIM OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES. IF YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING TO HEAR OF OCEAN RESCUES YOU ARE NOT. THE INDIVIDUAL LIFE GUARDS DO NOT HAVE RADIOS (EXCEPT THE PACIFIC AVE STAND WHICH IS IN AN ISOLATED LOCATION). I DON'T KNOW OF AN EMS TRANSPORT IN THE LAST THREE YEARS AFTER A RESCUE IN ATLANTIC CITY. MOST ARE "SNATCH & GRABS" INTO THE LIFE BOAT AND DUMP THE VICTIM BACK ON THE BEACH. THEY DID 85 ON WEDNESDAY ALONE.

I have a 2002 edition of Radio Shack Police Call and it has a listing of the frequencies for the hotels / casinos in AC. They are in the section "Beyond Police Call" in the back in the New Jersey section. Being that it is 2 years old, I don't know how accurate mine is, but if you can get your hands on a 2004 edition, you might find it to be more up to date. Each casino has a slew of frequencies and it doesn't say what they are used for, so it would mean tying up a good portion of your scanner to try to monitor them. And then, if they are low power, who knows how much you would hear, unless you were actually in the casino or within a stones throw of it. Would it really be worth the effort ? That would be up to you. Anyway, it's something for you to go on.

Enjoy your trip to AC

Info on Casinos

Since the technology upgrades.

Borgota Hotel, Casino & Spa - 900MHz. Trunk (Digital) Systems

Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. (Include these Casinos)
Harrah's Atlantic City, Showboat, Claridge Casino at Bally's, Bally's Park Place, The Wild-Wild-West Casino at Bally's, and Caesar's Atlantic City.
These casinos operate on low-power 900MHz. Trunk (Digital) Systems

Trump Marina, Trump Taj Mahal & Trump Plaza
These casinos operate on low-power 800/900MHz. Trunk (Digital) Systems

Resorts & Hilton Casino's
Resorts Casino operates on low-power 900MHz. Trunk (Digital) Systems
Hilton Casino now being part of Resorts - They were operating VHF/UHF...They now may be operating on the 800/900MHz. System.

Sands Hotel & Casino
They may still be operating on there UHF Frequencies.

Tropicana Casino
They should still be operating on there UHF Frequencies. They could have swithed to 800/900MHz. Systems.

AC Reception Update

I was staying in the top floor of Harrah's (Marina District) and I could receive Harrah's, Taj Mahal, Showboat, and all the TRS in the city. I could also get the OC Trunked system!

No Joe, I don't think he means Ocean County at all because there IS NO Ocean County Police Department. I believe he means Ocean City Police Department, and, in response to his question, according to the database here, yes they do operate on an EDACS ProVoice System. It also lists the System Voice as analog and digital.

Ocean City can be routinely heard anywhere in AC. Ocean County TRS can often be heard but, as Ken has correctly stated, this is not was referenced above. Apples and Oranges.

Hmmmm ? Let's see now. KC2GVX says I also get the OC Trunk System. Right beneath it PMO8203 asks if OCPD is ProVoice. Two posts, same "OC" abbreviation. You say "he means Ocean County." Your reply followed PMO8203's post, without any direct reference to KC2GVX. Get it ?

I'm pretty sure PM08203 thought KC2GVX meant the Ocean City when he said "OC Trunked system". I was just letting him know that he meant Ocean County, not Ocean City.

I was asking if he heard the Ocean City TRS while in Atlantic City. I did not know if their tower hit that far.

He wasn't, he was monitoring Ocean County. When he went to AC, the Ocean City TRS information was not in the RR Database.
