Does Anyone What The Term "comm" Stands For? Ex. 1 Comm, 2 Comm, 3 Comm

I was under the impression it is an abbreviation for communicatoins. Like some departments refer to their dispatch as headquarters / base / central, etc.

Could also mean command, maybe?

If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.

Yes it means Communications. My local PD calls their dispatch "communications" also.

NJSP comms

For the NJSP, the term "comm" refers to the talkgroup the police unit is communicating on. Each system (North, South, Central) has a 2-comm, a 3-comm, a 4-comm, and so on and so forth which is geographically organized. If you look at the database for the NJSP you can see the approximate areas that each talkgroup covers.
