This is a long shot, but I'll give it a try.....I don't want to violate Forum rules by crossposting so I will keep this brief.

About a week ago I noticed that my RS PRO-2096 would no longer allow me to save an ID when receiving a talkgroup. The "ID SAVED" message pops up but goes off quickly (at the end of a transmission?) and the radio is back in scan mode.

Has anyone else seen this issue recently?
I know they are 'experimenting' with the system as far as digital and maybe crossbanding. Could this be a factor?

A more detailed thread with copies of the P96 files from WIN96 are at:

Thanks!

I'll try looking at the Win96 file in the next day or two, but first a quick note. Years ago I think I remember hearing that the Pro-96/2096 had a small glitch whereby the radio would only save talkgroups in the first or second group for that bank. If those groups were already full then it would fail rather than storing it in an empty slot in a later group. If the first ID group/list for that bank is full then try shuffling things around between groups to make some room in the first.

Digital, rebanding, and crossbanding should have no impact on whether or not the scanner is able to quick-save the TGID to a memory slot.

Thanks, Jim. I appreciate your reply.

I'm 75% certain it is a hardware failure. The programming has not changed at all since January so I doubt that's it. I tried deleting all except the banks for Troops B &C, got rid of locked out talkgroups - generally minimized as much as possible. Still the same.

I was kind of hoping against hope that someone here in NJ had a PRO-2096 and also noticed the same symptom recently. That would give me hope that the system had somehow changed to a configuration that messed me up. The resounding silence indicates that that was a false hope.
